Sated & Exhausted…Port Fairy Folk Festival 2015.
The only thing I love more than attending a really great music festival is playing at them!
On March 5-8 2015 I had the pleasure of attending the Port Fairy Folk Festival in Australia. It was an exhaustive and completely satisfying parade of unique and beautiful artists from around the globe…as usual.
My personal highlight was to catch up with long time friends Zoe & Steve from Luluc after an absolutely stunning performance…it strange to have to line up with the fans to see your friends.
Arlo had an amazing time and managed to get a sit on the giant Squid in the main street everyday. Ha ha! It’s not easy for a three year old to sit through 1 hour shows but he did really well and we got to see a lot of complete shows. He met some wonderful new friends as well and I saw him play his first game of “Kiss Chasey” which was hilarious.
Further highlights were the charismatic Marlon Williams (apologies for the quality of the photo below)
It was also fantastic to finally see Alister Turrill performing with his new band mates Jaron Mulholland (bass) and Toby Johnson (drums) at the Reardon Theatre in Port Fairy. I’m a huge fan of Alister’s music and this evolution is a real winner. Looking forward to some dates with these boys in the not too distant future. (Apologies again for the poor quality photo…just a phone.)
All in all I had an inspiring and fulfilling weekend catching up with some old friends and make new ones while having my ears tickled by some of the finest musicians on the planet such as Jeff Lang, Maru Terang, Mama Kin, John Butler, Sinead O’Connor, Marlon Williams, Luluc, Ruth Moody, Jordie Lane, Richard Thompson, Wagons, Emily Lubitz, Chris Tamwoy, Alister Turrill and some fantastic kids entertainers that I sat and watched with Arlo including Woody’s World, the Mik Maks, Red the Clown and Heidi Hoops.
I highly recommend you get a ticket for 2016 if you haven’t been before.
